Peace When Things Are Up In the Air

Hey guys! It's Breanna. As I am writing this, my parents are up in the air. Quite literally, haha. They are on an air plane coming home from Las Vegas! So fun! I'm super excited that they were able to go and enjoy this trip.

However, I'd be lying if I said I didn't struggle a little bit knowing that they'd be off in a town known for its craziness AND have to fly there and back. If you know me, you'd know I really love for myself and those closest to me to stay in my comfort zone. And flying is definitely not in my comfort zone.

As I sat at a desk doing some homework before my 8am pilates class, I received a snapchat from my mom saying that their plane was about to take off. (Snapchat is our main form of communication btw LOL). I blinked back tears and felt like I was a parent and they were the children. I was transported back to my freshman year of high school when my sister and I took our first plane ride to Indianapolis, Indiana, as a reward for winning the Greenhand FFA Quiz state contest as eighth graders. I remember sitting on the plane in tears, and I even have a picture to prove it (which I will not insert because it's quite embarrassing). Just know, I was scared. I can only imagine how my mom felt.

The same thing happened two years later when we flew to California to visit my aunt.

The same thing happened two more years later when I moved to college. Evidently, I do not do well with change and uncertainty. I feel out of control and slip into panic mode.

One thing I am learning is that in life, things are always going to up in the air. There's always going to be that one thing (or two or three things) that can potentially make you anxious. As Bailee mentioned in a post, I am notorious for saying, "Once I get through this, I can do anything." Which is not entirely untrue. I can do anything that God calls me to; however, once you accomplish one thing, there will always be a myriad of unfinished deeds to follow. NO MATTER WHAT. You will not reach perfection on this side of heaven. You simply won't. And you can rest in that today. This world will drag you in a million different directions. Somedays you'll feel so sad, and somedays, you'll feel on top of the world. But God's strength will always get you through, and you'll end up exactly where you need to be.

Short and quick read, but I hope you remember to have peace when things are up in the air, and have faith that they will land soon!

Love, Breanna Chavez <3
