Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act.

Psalm 37:7, NLT

Howdy and happy Sunday! This week I’m coming on to tell you how to practically include God in your day-to-day life.

I’ll share a real life example from my life to illustrate this. This past Friday afternoon I was sitting outside the campus library studying and doing homework. My iPad was going dead, so I decided to make my way inside the library and into the coffee shop there. I sat down in the first open seat with an outlet next to it that I saw. When I got settled, I realized there was an empty chair next to me.

Seeing as that it was Friday afternoon and I had had a long week, I was feeling a little lackluster. So I decided to turn to the One I knew could brighten my day- God.

I asked Him to bring someone to sit in the empty seat beside me and that He would allow that person to serve as a reminder that He was there with me.

No lie- a girl shortly walked in, put her stuff in the chair, and asked me if I could keep an eye on it. I said yes of course and wondered if this might be the person the Lord would use to remind me of His presence. I wasn’t sure what the Lord had in mind since this was just a random girl who asked me to watch her stuff, but I’m working on not doubting God, so I tried to push away my unbelief.

She came back, sat down, and, after a couple of minutes asked me if I was a Terry Scholar LOL. I told her that I wasn't but that twin sister was. I finished introducing myself, and we had a nice little conversation before they told us the shop was closing and we needed to leave.

I left the coffee shop feeling a lot lighter because the Lord had tangibly answered my prayer- and just before closing time!

What did this teach me? Well, recently I have found myself worrying over whether or not I will be in the right place at the right time in order to meet the people the Lord wants in my life.

I didn’t know the girl who showed up to fill the empty seat beside me, but she somehow knew me.

I didn’t do anything to make this interaction happen- no planning or preparation. All I did was pray and wait. I didn’t even try to look approachable lol.

Of course, that’s not to say you shouldn't ever plan meetups, try to make friends, or look nice- but the truth is that the control you have over your life is very miniscule.

It’s really freeing to live in this truth.

Even our best manipulation attempts are not strong enough to either block or bring in the people & circumstances God previously ordained to be present in our life.

So, to the person fretting over whether or not they are doing enough or being enough to make the right things happen, be comforted by what the Lord whispered to my heart this week:

One day, you’ll be in the right place at the right time, but it won’t have anything to do with you. Instead, it will have everything to do with Me.

real-life pic of me studying,

watching the girl's stuff, and wondering

what God was going to teach me

This week maybe take a few minutes to ask God to remind you that He is there with you. Whether you’re looking unapproachable in a coffee shop, on a stage, serving a customer, or anywhere else, God will meet you where you’re at and make magic from the most mundane of moments.

love,

Bailee !!

P.S. I love how this blog is essentially me & Breanna's psalms from our college years haha. thankful for a space to vulnerability share the highs, lows, and everything in between :)
