It's All Good

Hi friends!
It’s Monday when I’m writing this- my longest work day, and so I wanted to take some time to reflect on things that have been good lately. Sometimes it feels like there are a million thoughts running through my head, and it always helps to slow down and sort through them.
This weekend I got to spend time with my precious cousin! We went to the local library. They had a room for kids aged 0-4. It had dress-up costumes, a puppet show stand, books, blocks, a play-kitchen, etc. It was honestly so cute and wholesome. While my cousin played, I looked at the parenting books LOL. I found one specifically for moms of twins. From what I’ve read, what I’ve seen on social media, and what I’ve seen in real life, motherhood is a different level of exhausting. I look forward to that stage of life, but I am content with where I am now. I have plenty of baby cousins to play with, and I see kids all day at my job. How kind of God to teach me nuggets of wisdom through my work that will be priceless if I become a parent one day.
I got to see my cousin before she goes off to college. She’s not going far, but it’s still a big milestone. It ended up being an unplanned family gathering, as my grandparents also stopped by. Turns out, my cousin thought about throwing a going-away party, but wasn’t able to since move-in day was early the next day. While this gathering was unplanned to me, God had it planned all along. This experience showed me that God is looking out for my prima just as much as He is looking out for me.
I spoke with my counselor this Saturday. It’s so nice to feel seen and heard. We’ve been meeting for over a year now, which is crazy. She knows my whole family dynamic, pretty much all my crush stories, and many of my struggles. She has also shared with me aspects of her life that have made me feel less alone. I cannot imagine going through post-grad without her support, and I am forever thankful that God let our paths cross. I feel like we had a bit of a breakthrough moment as I told her I want to spend less time dealing with the drama of social media situationships and instead focus more on being present with those in front of me.
I have been needing some spiritual guidance regarding prayer, reading my Bible, and becoming who God wants me to be. Discipleship is something I was introduced to my freshman year of college. No- those discipleship relationships weren’t perfect, but they did teach me about the Lord & prepped me for the counseling relationship I now have with my therapist. I recently listened to a podcast that really resonated with me, so I reached out to the guest, asking her for advice. She took the time to send me a thoughtful response, and now we will be Facetiming tomorrow to see if we would be a good fit for mentorship. I’m excited to see if we will read a book together, read the Bible together, or simply talk about life. Whatever God has in store, it’ll be a growing experience.
My sister cleaned out my closet for me this weekend!!
I try to walk outside before work on Mondays to get some fresh air and give my body a break from the treadmill. I typically listen to a podcast or music on my walks, but this morning I forgot my AirPods. So, I simply prayed to God. I am trying to return to a practice of praying for others, rather than just praying for myself.
I start grad school in one week! I am ready!! It’s been a long seven months of keeping myself occupied. I KNOW I’ll miss the free time, but I’m thankful for a default activity to fall back on rather than having to worry about how I will spend my weekends & evenings. (Type A person problem, I know).
The next thing I have to look forward to is hearing back regarding whether or not I will be an alumni speaker at one of the Terry Foundation banquets this fall. Regardless, I hope to be in attendance and see the students I interviewed this past spring.
Sabrina Carpenter’s new album comes out next Friday!!
I am a Swiftie now! There is too much hate in the world, so I thought I might as well join the party and get excited about her new album. Plus, Sabrina Carpenter is being featured!! I’ve been watching some Tiktoks trying to learn about all the different Taylor eras. Taylor has built a fan-base like no other, I’ll give her that. If anyone wants to fill me in on the Taylor lore, feel free to send videos/Tiktoks my way LOL.
I filmed a podcast episode yesterday called The Life of a School Girl. If I’m gonna be a Swiftie, obviously I’m going to partake in the trends!
Thank you for reading! I encourage you to sit down and make a list of what's all good in your life lately. Or if you feel like nothing is going well, write a letter to God about it. He's ready to listen, and He will answer all your questions in due time.
Love,
Breanna Chavez
