Inspired by Jenna Davis' Song

Hi everyone! It’s been a minute since I’ve sat down to write. I’m here on my lunch break, and I wanted to take some time to relay how God showed up for me in real life last week. Hope you enjoy!

Monday- Backstory. I had spent the previous week and a half without my glasses because I lost them :( It was so frustrating. Fortunately, I got a call saying they got delivered to the eye doctor, so I ran over there on my lunch break. I saw a cute boy there, which reminded me yet again of my singleness.

I prayed to God saying, “Lord, you have kept me quite entertained with silly boy stories this post-grad season, and I honestly feel bad for asking you to show up for me in this area again, but if you could, could you show me just one more time that you are working in this area of my life?”

I went through the rest of the day feeling a little bummed, and I honestly forgot about the prayer. That night I got a text from an old coworker. She said she had a friend who thought I was really pretty. A few seconds later, I got an Instagram message from him saying that he heard I liked Morgan Wallen & wanted to know when we would be going to his concert. This made me laugh because of a previous boy story that had just occurred. I was actually pretty sad when that situationship ended, and God knew that. He is so kind!!

I was totally fine with that being the answer to my prayer, but the Lord can’t help but bless His children. Later that night, I received a Snapchat from a boy I had met at a Christian camp I went to before college. Going into that camp, I naively thought I would meet the love of my life, but I ended up leaving the camp with nothing but COVID. Bailee and I went to the prayer room one night at camp to get prayer for our future husbands, and I had since wondered if that prayer had even been heard. Once again, the Lord is in the business of redeeming every part of my story and sent this boy to do just that. He is also the same ethnicity as me, which is a pretty crazy coincidence considering the fact that I had just made the comment that I wanted to find a Chicano. I’m telling you- the Lord is listening, and He has a sense of humor!!!

These two stories reminded me of lyrics from Jenna Davis’ song 16:

“It all started like a diary, ‘Dear Miss Reality’

Can't you find me a boy, just for the summer. . . .

Little did I know, He would actually appear.”

Tuesday- This evening, I met with my very first Happiest Here College and Career client. Finding my worth in academics is a huge part of my testimony, and this little side hustle of mine is me doing my part in bringing heaven to earth. I want to be who I needed as a first-generation college student, and it truly is a passion. All the reading and writing I have been doing post-grad has helped me keep my mind sharp and creative, which has helped me tremendously when revising scholarship essays.

Wednesday- Bailee and I went on the radio yet again. If I’m being totally honest, I wasn’t feeling it before we went in. However, I am so glad I persevered because the host made me laugh really hard. We got him to play Morgan Wallen for the tiniest bit, and he said he might get us some Ella Langley concert tickets! I guess we’ll see!!! I love that we are getting experience with media related to nutrition. This is an area of dietetics that I would love to go into, so the fact that we are already getting experience will be very valuable.

Thursday- One of our nutritionists was on vacation, so I took her place at another clinic. Crazy thing is, I had just practiced driving in the town I filled in at a few months ago. I wanted to practice driving on the interstate, but I had no idea this would come in handy soon. On my break, I walked around the clinic and saw there was a room for Christian holistic health coaching. I even got to window shop at a few boutiques close by. I was genuinely so joyful that day as I drove the work van through the tiny town.

Friday- During our work break, Bailee and I hung around town a little bit, took some cute Instagram photos, and blasted Hudson Westbrook’s new album. If you haven’t listened to it yet- run, don’t walk, to your Spotify app lol. I think God has truly blessed Hudson and carved a special place for him in country music. He may not be the next Morgan Wallen, but his songs are really good. Some of them are so sweet I literally cried listening to them.

Bonus entry from this week:

  • Bailee and I often go to the store to gather items for cooking demos at work. There’s something so nostalgic about walking around the grocery store. It reminds me of when I used to follow my mom around while she searched the store for groceries. She literally used to make a list with a pencil and paper. Times have changed, and now our family mainly does pickups rather than going into the store. This week, as we walked into the store, we ran into a friend we’ve known all throughout high school and college. The interaction was a reminder of how good God is & how He directs our steps to make sure we run into the people we need to.

If I could show my 16-year-old self this week of mine, she would be so excited! I encourage you to think about how cool your 16-year-old self would think you are!

I hope this encouraged you to look for God in your everyday life. It’s tough, and I’m always tired, but God always comes through- one way or another. I know He’ll do the same for you.
