Even In A Crowded Room

Happy Sunday!

This week is a small glimpse into what the Lord’s been teaching me! Really just 2 points tonight! :)

Our Famous Friend

In today’s day and age, sometimes following Jesus resembles a trend- the “trendsetters” being Christian influencers. This is great in many ways- they’re basically celebrities who use their platform to spread the Gospel and make Jesus famous.

Have you ever known someone before they became famous? When this is the case, we often take pride in flaunting the fact that we knew them before the glamor- when they were just regular people.

Or maybe you’ve known someone on the way to fame? Perhaps you urged them to “remember the little people” in their big moments.

Texas A&M holds a massive Bible study called Breakaway every week. Attending has been such a blessing. It’s so cool to see hundreds of college students worshiping the Lord and reading Scripture.

These moments of awe are also moments of humility. Being surrounded by so many followers of Jesus reminds me that God is so powerful, and I’m so not. It’s an overwhelming feeling really.

But, unlike a fickle famous person might be tempted to forget their roots or past relationships once they take the stage, I get to rest in the fact that, no matter how many followers the Lord has, He remembers me, and He sees me- even in a crowded room!

She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”

Genesis 16:13

Doubting Disease

Doubt: a feeling of uncertainty

Webster's Dictionary

Doubt is a dangerous disease that can spread rapidly. When I let my thoughts run rampant and let fear take the driver’s seat, I find doubt trying to speak over so many areas of my life. I find myself anxious about my circumstances and fed up with my flesh for convincing me to resort to worry yet again.

Of course, I try to remedy this experience through coming to Jesus. However, God has changed my heart posture in doing this.

In the past, I have come to Him with my eyes still on myself and my fears, failures, and flaws. He, however, has so kindly reminded me that His glory is enough to cover everything. Instead of focusing on my baggage, I can focus on Him and His perfection! Worship music has been so helpful this week.

I am so thankful for the steadfastness of God !!! As quite the perfectionist, I really do not like any form of uncertainty. So, the Bible gives me so much peace because it is literally the only truth that never changes. My emotions, circumstances, actions, or opinions will never tarnish its value or validity.

Prayer:

Lord, thank you that you are above every single thing in this world. No matter what dark place we may be in, let us look to You for light. Help us remember that putting our focus on You is the most effective remedy for anxiety. You deserve ALL the glory. When the world feels overwhelming and we find ourselves wanting to run from everything, including ourselves, may we sprint quickly to Your tender embrace while courageously leaving everything behind!

Amen.
