Happy Sunday! I had a really great weekend that was super busy, but I still wanted to pop in with a few words of encouragement for the readers.

This week I listened to a really great podcast over how enough Jesus is for us & I wanted to share some of my favorite points.

Link to full episode:

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53‬:‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Hearing about how Jesus suffered for us may stir up some feelings of conviction. How could we sinful people accept such a gift when we are so unworthy?

Instead of accepting the free gift He offers, many of us resort to punishing ourselves. We postpone or deny ourselves joy- dubbing ourselves as unfit and unworthy until we “get our lives together.”

But this is like looking at Jesus on the cross- when He was bleeding with thorns on His head and nails in His hands- and saying

“Jesus, that punishment that you took for me is not enough. I must punish myself too.”

It’s so sad that we don’t realize how enough His death and resurrection truly was for us.

We couldn’t earn it. We don’t deserve it. And it’s so good. Literally the best news that you’ll ever hear on Earth and in Heaven- the greatest news of all eternity. The angels sing about it 24/7 !!

Luke 10:20 states:

Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are enrolled in heaven

True rejoicing will build for all eternity because it is totally grounded in our future heavenly reward.

As believers in Jesus, our names are written in the book of life! We aren’t even supposed to rejoice in the authority we have, through Jesus, over evil because that, too, is a fleeting joy- we will one day live with the Lord in a place where there is no evil.

Not what you do for God but what God does for you- that's the agenda for rejoicing!

Luke 10:20- The Message translation

Don’t deny yourself joy this week. No matter the stresses you may face this week- you have LIVING HOPE in Jesus.

Allow this joy to guard your mind as you face exams, a busy work schedule, a never-ending to-do list, or whatever else this week may have in store for you.

The Lord loves you, and He has amazing plans for your life.

His heart so passionately desires to see you blessed.

He would never withhold anything good from You.

Let these truths override all feelings of disappointment, loneliness, or stress you may be encountering ❤️

love,

bailee
