Hello everyone! Good news!

Bailee and I have decided to share this blog because both of us love writing so much.

Plus, we each have different messages on our hearts to share!

Today, I want to talk about C O L L E G E. As a first-generation college student, I had no idea what to expect. I’ve only been in college for a week and a half, and I have already grown SO much.

Here’s what I’ve learned so far.

Finding your classes can be incredibly difficult.

Whether you attend a junior college, technical school, a four-year university, or maybe you’re entering the workforce, the struggle is real.

Understand that you are stepping into a completely new environment. It’s okay to feel lost, but there are a few things you can do to reduce the stress that will inevitably come during the first couple of days of school.

  • My biggest tip is to visit the campus as much as possible before you actually start school. Even if it’s not an official college tour. Meet up with a friend you know in your college town. Make a trip out of it! Trust me, it makes all the difference, and you will feel a lot more familiar with the area you are stepping into.

Also, leave for classes at least an HOUR early on the first day!

My next main point is crucial. Do what works for YOU. Good friends will love you for WHO YOU ARE. Don’t be afraid to say N O .

These are wise words from my mom.

If you don’t want to go to a certain event, don’t!
If you do want to go somewhere, go!
If you want to take the bus, do so!
If you would rather walk, do it!

Of course, use wisdom, but you get what I’m trying to say. College is so unique because you have SO. MANY. OPTIONS. Be encouraged that your true friends will love you for exactly who you are. There will be a million different voices telling you what to do and who you should be. But, you, my dear friend, NEED to stay true to yourself.

God placed a unique and exciting purpose on your life, and trying to be somebody you're not will do nothing but stress you out. Trust me. The Lord will guide your steps.

Here are a few pieces of scripture that may encourage you as you enter this new and exciting step in your life.

1 C O R I N T H I A N S 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

P H I L L I P I A N S 4:6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

C O L O S S I A N S 3:2

“Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are upon the earth.”

M A T T H E W 6:33

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

C L O S I N G R E M A R K S

Be where your feet are, my friend. Take pictures, soak up the little moments, and call your family. You won’t regret it!

ALSO, always remember that life is more glamorous over social media 😛

Fifty years later, and I STILL have nightmares about being in college and being late for class and not remembering where the correct building is.
