Coincidences in Christ

Inspired by Sabrina Carpenter's song Coincidence

If you know me, you’d know I loveeee me some God winks. Call me delusional, but I think these “signs” are divine (most of the time). God doesn’t have to speak to you the way He speaks to me, but if you’re interested, I’d love to share! Here are some real-life examples of how God showed up for me- just today.

Car Ride to Church

Bailee and I decided to go to church today. We recently began going to a different church from our parents. I won’t lie; it’s a little bittersweet. I sometimes miss sitting in the pews with my parents, but I also really like the church we’ve begun to attend. This morning, I was feeling the weight of that tension and was especially teary-eyed (#girlhood). If there’s anything that can snap me out of a sad mood, it’s good music, some male validation (LOL), and an aesthetic Instagram post. That’s exactly what the Lord provided through some not-so-subtle coincidences.

In the car, Bailee played a song by Max McNown. If you didn’t see it on my social media accounts, Max replied to my DM asking him to wish my sister a happy birthday. I found out about him through a Tiktok my mom sent me of his song “Better Me for You (Brown Eyes)”. The song says,

Didn’t know you’d have brown eyes
Like to pray to Jesus
Spending Friday nights at home

If that doesn’t describe us, I don’t know what does. The fact that he, out of all the people I messaged, answered, felt like a God wink in and of itself.

Somewhere along the road to church, I looked down at my lap and noticed that my dress, my Bible, and Bailee’s makeup bag all had floral designs. I snapped a quick picture, excited to go back and edit it later, & prayed a silent prayer that I would come across another flower throughout the day. Max also has a song called Roses & Wolves that I decided would be perfect for the picture I took. (I genuinely get “visions” in my head for the posts I create. Some people think social media is shallow, but I consider myself a divine digital designer.)

When we got to church, I was a little stressed. We were running late, I was worried there wouldn’t be any seats for us, and I dropped my pencil as I got out of the car. (I look forward to Heaven because we won’t have any of these inconveniences tainting our worship of Jesus.)

As we rushed into the building, I did a quick scan of the parking lot for any cuties. (Are you even a single Christian girl if you don’t do this?). Disappointed by the lack of eligible bachelors, I reminded my heart that I was there for God and that I won’t have to strive to be seen by the one my Savior sends to me.

I guess the Lord wanted to honor my surrender because as Bailee and I were about to walk into the church doors, an attractive-looking man held the door open for us. (Chivalry is not dead in the house of the Lord. Hallelujah!) The guy smiled like he knew us, let us walk in first, and said, “Y’all are looking pretty today.”

It was a sweet greeting with no strings attached, and it felt nice to be seen. While I was feeling like a hot mess, someone else was admiring my beauty. I have recently stopped putting my hope in male validation and have started living for an audience of One (Jesus), but I am glad that God made physical attraction & beauty a thing because it makes life a lot sweeter.

The Garden

After church, I asked Bailee if she would be willing to take some pictures of me. I was a fan of my floral dress & always need pictures for my photo dumps, blog posts, and podcast promotions. She agreed (which is not always the case) and suggested we go to the Gilmer Flower Garden. I guess this is a new addition to town because I had no idea it existed, but lo and behold, it was the perfect place for some post-church pictures. As we pulled into the parking lot, I was reminded of my prayer before church. While I asked to see just one pretty flower, God gifted me with a whole garden. God is such a kind God & shows up for me in ways like this All. The. Time.

Don’t get me wrong, I have plenty of bad moments and bad days. But it’s the hope of Heaven and the God winks along the way that keep me going. Being in a relationship with Jesus is the best thing ever.

The Podcast

Speaking of relationships, I just listened to a podcast by Madison Prewett Trout in which the guest gave his opinion on whether or not we are in the End Times. At first, I wasn’t going to listen to the episode, as it seemed a little heavy and scary, but I felt the Lord put on my heart to go back and listen to it, and I did.

In the podcast, he answered several common questions about heaven, one of which is, “Will we know our families and spouses in Heaven?” His answer took me by surprise. I was under the impression that we won’t know our families in Heaven because we will be fully captivated by Jesus, but guest Jimmy Evans said that we’ll finally REALLY know our families. I love my family and know them fairly well, but there’s no way on this side of heaven I’ll ever fully know or fully understand them. Fortunately, in Heaven, there will be no awkwardness, no taboo topics, no eggshells to walk around, and no arguments to win. I’m excited for that day!

I hope you enjoyed this post, and I hope you were able to follow along. It’s impossible for me to record all the Christ-like coincidences I experience on a daily basis, but hopefully this encourages you to open your heart to ask + open your eyes to see the ways the Lord may want to show up for you today.

Love, Breanna Reese Chavez
