Can I Come With You?

Hey blog, happy Sunday !! This past week Breanna and I got to go to midnight yell here at TAMU.
While waiting for the clock to strike midnight and the cascade of events to start, Breanna and I were having a good time chatting with our friends. All of a sudden a guy dressed in white and carrying a “I need a date hat” started walking up and down the bleachers asking for volunteers.
Being the good sister that I am, I volunteered Breanna 😇😇
“She’ll do it !!”
Not knowing what she was getting herself into, Breanna went to talk to the guy and asked what was required of her.
He said that he was looking for a date for one of the trombone players for the night.
She laughed and agreed.
Before she started to head over to the Aggie band section, however, I realized that I could not let my sister be the only one getting this opportunity.
“Can I come with you ??” I yelled out to her.
Breanna asked the guy if 2 volunteers was a possibility, and he replied- “The more the merrier.”

You’re probably wondering why I am writing about this funny story on the blog, and maybe it’s long shot- but it got me thinking about how we as Christians are marketing Christianity as His ambassadors.
The Bible tells us that we are the salt and the light of the world !!
Salt and Light
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:13-16
Of course, we shouldn’t market life as a Christian as some painless journey filled with all things sunshine 24/7. That would certainly be false advertisement. BUT people should be able to see a positive difference in us as compared to the world.
Bella Scott, a guest on my podcast, said that there is “a tangible texture” to those who are walking with the Lord.
So I began to ask myself:
How am I living different from the world?
Am I marketing Christianity as a list of rules and regulations?
What about my lifestyle of faith would be attractive to an unbeliever?
Ultimately, this life on Earth is just a journey to Heaven. And the only thing that we can take with us there is other people.
I want people to spend my life telling people about Where I am headed. I want to carry a heavenly hope that surpasses every earthly trial.
I hope people will stop me on my trek Home and ask “Can I come with you?”
To which, I will reply “The more the merrier!”
