Hello! 👋

I haven't written on this blog in a long time, but I have felt called to do so for quite some time now; however, I couldn't quite pinpoint what to write about. This morning, however, I experienced God's peace in a new way, and I'm excited to share my experience with you all.

This weekend my mom came to visit for family weekend here in Aggieland. When she arrived, Bailee and I went to help her unpack her things as well as some belongings she brought for us from home. We opened the trunk and grabbed as many things as we could. Before we went inside, however, she mentioned that there were a few more things in the car that we needed to get. To be honest, I was annoyed. My hands were full, and I just wanted to put our stuff in our dorm and go get dinner.

However, as I looked in the car, I noticed two pink vases full of beautiful flowers. "Are those for us?" I asked. She replied that they were, and I immediately felt guilty for feeling so annoyed. She had gone out of her way to purchase these flowers for us, and here I was, too caught up in my own desires to recognize her kind gesture.

I am not very good with flowers. I think they are beautiful, but caring for them has never been my thing (just ask my high school ag teacher LOL). For the past week, the flowers have been sitting on top of a shelf on my desk, and I've haven't really paid much attention to them. Until this morning.

I started off with my usual morning routine. I got up, listened to a quick sermon from Breakaway (a huge ministry here at TAMU; definitely look it up if you haven't!), and immediately began on my to-do list. However, something just didn't feel right. I was tired, anxious, and quite honestly, really ready to go home for Easter weekend. But, I still have responsibilities to attend to here for the next two days. So, I prayed for God to give me the energy and motivation that I need.

If I'm being honest, I don't always fully believe my prayers will work. I am a science-based major, so the majority of my time is filled with doing math problems, watching Chemistry lectures, and other things that have nothing to do with the spiritual realm. Often, I'm tempted to brush off my faith as wishful thinking... until I reach a low point and desperately call on God to be my saving grace. These situations always humble me and make me realize just how real God is and how much I need Him in my life. Despite my doubting & questioning, He always meets me in my worries and distress, and today was no different.

I prayed for renewed energy, and then looked up to see the flowers my mom purchased me. The sight of them prompted me to meditate on how genius, creative, and kind God must be to give us the gift of flowers. He didn't have to create them, but He did. I then looked up scripture related to flowers and found a verse that really encouraged me:

Luke 12:27-28

“Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?”

Isn't it crazy how God's word can speak directly to your heart? How is it possible that the words from this ancient book are still so relevant today? Well, that's God for you. Never changing, always present, and all-knowing.

My point in sharing this story today was to encourage you to take some time to enjoy the small blessings you may be overlooking in your everyday life. Your mind can't be anxious and grateful at the same time, so why not counteract the anxiety of life with some gratitude to help you get through the week!

Hope this story encouraged you, and I hope you choose to soak up God's little blessings today. It makes life so much more enjoyable.

Love,

Breanna <3

Your Mom is one of a kind. She and her mom are two of God's better blessings.
