A World With No Mirrors

a little poem I wrote

I hope it reminds you that you were created in the image of God

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them

Genesis 1:27 (NIV)

I wonder how much time we’d save in a world with no mirrors

No place to stop and sigh

No place to be a critical passerby

Would we begin to look more like Jesus?

Would we begin to see ourselves how He sees us?

Maybe we’d understand that beauty is something that can be felt and not just seen

Maybe we’d understand the extent to which our Savior has made us clean

I believe we’d focus less on our outward appearance

I believe we’d focus more on everlasting qualities such as faith, hope, love, and perseverance

And so I wonder if there will be mirrors in heaven

Perhaps here, light will be finally be shed upon all our self-destructive lies

Perhaps here, we will only be able to see our reflection by looking straight into our Creator’s eyes

At last, we’ll be able to fully see ourselves as He does

At last, we’ll have freedom from all that was

Oh how I wonder if there will be mirrors in heaven

At my age, you don't look into a mirror unless you absolutely have to. I guess I prefer to think I look as God sees me rather than as gravity leaves me.
